Visit to Imphal and Bishnupur to review the Up-Scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme in Partnership with Govt. of Manipur
Shri K G Daigong, Director, Relief & Disaster Management, Govt. of Manipur briefed on activities being done by Relief & Disaster Management including Aapda Mitra, School Safety and other Mitigation activities and briefed about the vulnerability profile of the district. He thanked NDMA for selecting 9 districts of Manipur for implementation of Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra scheme.

MEETING WITH HON’BLE MINISTER OF WATER RESOURCES, RELIEF & DISASTER MANAGEMENT, GOVT. OF MANIPUR
A meeting was held with Shri Awangbow Newmai, Hon’ble Minister Of Water Resources, Relief & Disaster Management, Govt. Of Manipur on 9th April 2022 at 1520 hrs.
Hon’ble Minister briefed about the vulnerability profile of the State and inform that the State is prone to flood, earthquake, forest fire etc. He thanked NDMA for selecting 8 districts of Manipur for implementation of Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra scheme. He assured NDMA that State will try their best to achieved the target.
Joint Advisor, NDMA said the focus of the scheme was to identify and train volunteers from the community and build their capacity for mitigating disasters. The volunteers will be trained to respond to the immediate needs of the community during emergency situations like floods, he added. He said that the volunteers will undergo 12 days rigorous training in batches of 25 each in basic skills with focus on flood, landslide, cyclone & earthquake. These volunteers will be able to act as first responders and assist the community in effective disaster response and assist the district administration in providing immediate relief to the affected people.

VISIT TO MINI SECRETRAIAT, BISHNUPUR DISTRICT OF MANIPUR
Visited DDMA, Bishnupur, Mini Secretraiat on 9th April 2022 at 1620 hrs and reviewed the status of the Up-Scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme being implemented by NDMA in partnership with State Govt. in Bishnupur district of Manipur.
Bishnupur is one of the district of Manipur selected under Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra scheme. Under the scheme 100 Aapda Mitra volunteers to be trained in disaster response.
Interacted with Aapda Mitra Volunteers, Officials from State Disaster Management Authority, District Disaster Management Authority , State Disaster Response Force and officials from other field functionaries at District level.
DDMA Bishnupur with collaboration with State Disaster Response Force conducted a training on first aid with support of trained Aapda Mitra. Around 45 volunteers were involved in the training. Various activities like lifting and moving of patient, bleeding control and wound care, basic life support were also demonstrated.
